De la Fuente revealed that his arrival at NOS was through a recommendation from a colleague and mentor who values his unique approach and passion for sustainability.
"When I learned a little bit about what NOS does, it made total sense to me, because part of my background has been collaborating in projects related to social and environmental issues. That's when my curiosity was piqued and I thought, 'okay, this is the perfect scenario to apply my experience and generate a positive impact,'" he shared.
NOS, an opportunity to innovate

"I'm a passionate, devil's advocate who knows the world can get better. For me, NOS represents the perfect opportunity to materialize all those ideas that are in my head," she said.
"The truth is that all the team I've met is very friendly and passionate, and that passion is contagious. We are a group of people who believe that we can make an impact and a positive change, even if it is at a local level, that will reverberate globally."
As for his role, de la Fuente described that his objective will be to combine his experience in other areas with NOS's expertise to generate innovative and attractive solutions.
Challenges
The NOS Co-Chief Innovation Officer acknowledged that one of the main challenges will be to encourage the acceptance of new ideas and disruptive solutions, a challenge she is excited to face.
"I don't come with the intention of changing everything on my own; rather, I seek to work as a team to identify challenges and problems, turn them into opportunities and solve them collectively. We aim to find solutions that are not excessively costly, either financially, physically or emotionally. We want to adopt desirable, feasible and viable solutions that allow us to say, 'yes, we can do it,' and that will benefit us in both the short and long term," he explained.
De la Fuente stressed that NOS Sustainable Northwest carries out many positive actions that have an impact on the community, but it is very important that they are known beyond the regional scope, in order to create awareness and encourage responsible decisions in a wider public on issues such as sustainable fishing, environmental care or the restoration of the social fabric.
