La Paz Inlet mangrove clean up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Members of the <strong>Fishermen's Organization Rescuing the Inlet<\/strong> work began a little more than two weeks ago on the <strong>cleaning<\/strong> in the area of <strong>mangrove<\/strong> of the inlet of this municipality, to remove the debris that was washed away by the rainwater discharges caused by the <strong>hurricane Norma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hubert M\u00e9ndez Camacho<\/strong>president of <strong>OPRE<\/strong>explained that around 25 people are participating in this work, supported by <strong>NOS Sustainable Northwest<\/strong>, <strong>La Paz City Hall<\/strong>, <strong>Hotel Marea<\/strong> y <strong>Wild Coast<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><span class=\"highlight\"><strong>\"We are cleaning the mangrove zone and the area adjacent to where we have oyster farming,\" he described. \"We are cleaning the entire mangrove zone, practically all of El Mogote and the side of Nayarit towards Cicimar.<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explained that the clean-up campaigns are being carried out every day, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nos.org.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-12-05-at-2.11.40-PM.jpeg?resize=1600%2C900&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-861\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nos.org.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-12-05-at-2.11.40-PM.jpeg?w=1600&amp;ssl=1 1600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nos.org.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-12-05-at-2.11.40-PM.jpeg?resize=300%2C169&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nos.org.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-12-05-at-2.11.40-PM.jpeg?resize=1024%2C576&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nos.org.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-12-05-at-2.11.40-PM.jpeg?resize=768%2C432&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nos.org.mx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-12-05-at-2.11.40-PM.jpeg?resize=1536%2C864&amp;ssl=1 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Plastics, cork, tires and even household appliances<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the first two weeks of cleanup work, they have removed from the mangroves approximately <strong>8 tons of waste<\/strong>highlighting the <strong>plastic waste<\/strong> which is the largest in volume, said M\u00e9ndez Camacho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the creeks that formed during Norma's rains and discharged into the <strong>La Paz inlet <\/strong>They also took cork, tires, tree branches and even parts of refrigerators and washing machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong><span class=\"highlight\">\"We have also found quite a few things from the boats, because there were many boats that were beached in the wind and others that sank.
